April 16, 2025 Dresden, Germany

We’re up at 7:30 AM and the sun is shining with not a cloud in the sky. I am determined to bring all my blogs up-to-date and I do it! We keep looking ahead at the weather forecast and it keeps predicting rain, but the sun keeps following us. I swear to God it’s a lucky penny in my left shoe 😊

Our clothes aren’t dry on our rack outside, but we don’t need anything much and they’ll dry in the sunshine today.

I felt like I wanted to stay at our beautiful suite today, but now I have a feeling like we should go to town and explore a bit.

I read about a collapsed bridge in the city and it’s right on the Elbe River exactly where we are right now watching them clean up the mess.

We stop at a little Café and Richard finally gets his bratwurst in a bun and we go sit in the big square and eat it

Our next stop is to walk up the 281 steps to the top of the dome of Kuppelanfstieg Church. From here you have amagnificent view of all of Dresden. Dresden happens to be the capital of Saxony, a province in Germany. We walk around the Dresden Royal Palace and go to their inner courtyard, but decide not to do a full tour of it.

This is an old picture of what the palace looked like after the bombings during WW II.

Our last stop before returning home was at the Kutscherschanke (why is every name in Europe so long) for a huge sundae with cherry liqueur that we shared.😎

Well, I guess we actually stopped one last time at the REWE store which appears to be a big grocery store. We bought some groceries and decide to eat at home tonight

. Of course Richard does the cooking and then we have a game of crib which he wins. Next, we have a sauna a shower and I’m in bed by 8:30 and fall fast asleep.💤
There are some weird looking modes of transportation here!!
