Goodbye Pope Francis. I think you were a good man. With this developing occurrence, we have made the decision not to go to Rome on this trip. We have already heard that security is going to be tight and the crowds are massive. We’ll save this for another trip.
I have three loads of laundry to do and they also have a lovely washing machine so I get my laundry done and hang it on the rack outside on the terrace to dry. The temperature is 19° and although the weather app says partly cloudy, the sun is shining and it’s so warm.
Richard has enough food to make up a nice big breakfast for us of eggs, bratwurst, apple, cheese and toast with a glass of orange juice, tea and coffee. I’m really enjoying this quiet time and I could stay in this apartment forever but we feel like we need to get out and see something.
The seaside is bustling with people, mainly tourists, so we begin strolling down the promenade. There is a café right by the seawater pool and we stop for a drink and a Caprese salad for me and an octopus salad for Richard (he likes the grossest things).
We’re back home by 5 PM and because we have some leftovers we decide just to stay in and eat them up. We actually turned on the TV tonight and saw some depressing news from the BBC. God I haven’t missed watching TV since we’ve been gone.
