Day 6 April 6, 2025

 Well, this is officially our last full day in Paris and we’re up much earlier this morning. 7:30 AM. The weather is cooperating again and the skies are as clear as they can be and the temperature is supposed to get up to 19°C.

Today we’ve decided to walk to the Louvre and I think we will be touring it as sister-in-law Jan said that we couldn’t not go. There were no reservations left for the day so we decided to get in line and wait to buy our tickets here. The wait was only about 30 minutes before we were entering this massive palace that contains some of the most important pieces of art in history. We made sure to see the Mona Lisa, as well as Venus de Milo. There are so many sculptures and paintings that you’d never see them all in one short visit. We got the opportunity to go downstairs to see how the palace was constructed and some of the history on it. Again, I say, masses of people. I can’t imagine what it’s like here in the summertime during high season. Although the way the weather has been, you’d think it was summer. We probably spend about three hours looking around before leaving.







The  Tuileries Garden is attached to the Louvre Palace so we stroll along through there watching all the people. Today is Sunday so there are lots of children playing in the park. 



We start to head back home but stop at a Japanese restaurant for some noodle soup and to rest our weary bones. By now, we are well rested and head back to the garden to enjoy an ice cream cone and watch the kids play soccer.


Now we actually take the 20 minute walk home and are back there by 5 o’clock where we enjoy a cold bottle of Heineken from the fridge. 


After a bit of a rest, we head back out again to have a bite to eat.

Day 4 April 4, 2025

 This morning we don’t get up until 9 AM which is extremely unusual for Richard. He’s a real early riser but I think I walked the living hell out of him yesterday.  I’ve made reservations to visit the Catacombs of Paris today, but it’s not until 230 so we don’t rush getting ourselves ready this morning. In fact, we hauled two mattresses down from the upper loft to make the bed more comfortable for us tonight. I have to say that that is one of the worst parts of this little apartment. The bed is not meant for us creatures of comfort.  Today I’m going to give Richard a break and we’ll take the Metro down to the Catacombs. The transportation system in and around the Paris area is amazing. There’s the RER train system, the Metro and buses and trams. May 15, 2025 - Home Sweet Home

 We’re up bright and early even though our flight has been delayed till around 2 o’clock this afternoon. We have enough time to go for a nice long walk in a park right beside the hotel. I even got to take a stroll through one last graveyard. I guess I keep hoping to see my last name in one of them, but alas, I have not. One of the wheel struts from a Concorde which began its career in 1985 and officially retired in November 2003 Charles de Gaulle airport is still referred to as Roissy by Parisians.  The hotel provides a shuttle to the airport and I’m glad we have given ourselves lots of time because this airport is huge. In fact, I understand it is the largest airport in Europe. I swear we must’ve got our 10,000 steps just walking in the airport from check-in then security and then to our boarding terminal.
